Hospital.

Last night I brought Rob into the ER. He was having the anxious feeling accompanied by the super fast heartbeat. He's experienced this before, twice actually, and so we knew the drill. The only difference this time was that we knew that he was supposed to have been taking his medication every day and had been neglecting to do so. Sigh. Rapid AFIB.
After sitting in an ER room for several hours and pumping some meds into his system, his heart rate dropped but his rhythm wasn't normal. They decided to keep him overnight to keep him on meds and see what would happen in the morning. I love how they threaten to "shock" him if the medicine doesn't work...Seriously, can we talk about how perhaps there should be a better way to tell a patient and their spouse what the next step might be without just saying "Well if this doesn't work we'll have to shock you." That isn't comforting in the least. Not to mention that even after having heard that two other times, I'm still not quite sure what it all entails because no one has explained it.
This morning they decided to put him on a new round of meds and give him a shot in the stomach to keep him from clotting. Since everything in the hospital seems to take ages, by the time they were ready to give him the new medicine his heart had converted back into regular rhythm. Nearly two afters after the news of our upcoming discharge, we are still waiting for the Dr. to come in to check him and release us. Ok, i'll stop complaining.
I'm thankful that my husband is ok. That we'll get to go home to see our boys tonight. That they'll get to wrestle and play with him. That by this evening we'll all be together and he'll be on his merry way to annoying me :)
Praying that we can get some answers and they can figure out what is causing this. Because somehow the idea of him taking three meds every day but not being sure what is making his heart go crazy doesn't sit well with me.

  1. Just getting caught up on everything that happened. I'm so sorry you are dealing with all of this! I hope you can find out what is causing these heart troubles and go from there. Thinking of you and hoping all your boys are feeling better this week! :)
