Paper & Scissors

Do you ever wonder why you spend money on expensive toys when your kid seems more amused by playing in a card board box or shredding paper with scissors?? Yesterday, Braden and my niece Joce spent quite some time hiding and playing in a box [we had some suitcases delivered yesterday] and today Joce spent a good 30 minutes shredding paper with a pair of 3 dollar scissors!
Seriously, by mid-week when I have arranged and re-arranged all of the boys toys a million times, I have really strong urges to throw them all away...
But anyway.

365{16}

So, long day but totally worth it. Drove three hours there and three hours back with my two kiddos [and parents] to see my Grandpa in the city today. Braden has a double ear infection and I knew that they'd be missing naps and would be antsy from being in the car and all of that other stuff but they did GREAT. And we had a wonderful visit. Nice to have him closer. Nice that he can see my kids. I am thankful.

Anyway, this photo is taken with my iphone. I did not feel like lugging my camera along with all of the other things I had to bring to keep the kids fed, happy, and entertained :) Can you tell that Carter is dying for a nap??
I <3 you Grandpa.

Crafty, Crafty

I enjoy being crafty, or at least trying to be crafty, but these days with the kids and all it usually pans out alot better, easier, and more fun in my head... It all started with a very interesting trip to Joann's so I could buy all of my supplies. Let's just say there was alot of crying, screaming, growling (thanks to Carter), and attempts at sucking the front of the cart (again, thanks to Carter). I finally bought my things rushed home, put the kids down for naps so I could begin my fun...well the printer smeared ink all over most of my cardstock (for the inside info part) and then Braden decided he was going to take a very, very short nap. All of that to say that that I my craftiness was cut short and I only managed to finish one little card. Sigh. But here's what it looks like.

Nope, can't believe my little man will be one next month. In just a matter of weeks he's gone for taking steps here and there to confidently walking across the room and falling over with excitement when he reaches his destination. Cuteness.
I usually do the index card thing but yesterday I didn't feel like fighting with him so that he wouldn't eat it! Maybe i'll try later, just for the sake of the 'tradition'.

27.

Yesterday was my birthday. Yep, I'm a Valentine's baby :) I had a wonderful day that started out with coffee, flowers, and chocolate in bed- it doesn't get much better than that! In the afternoon before Rob and I went to dinner and a movie our fam was over for some yummy cake. And look at the cute plaster heart that Braden made for me with my mother in law- he was so excited to give it to me, love him! 27, looking forward to one of my best years yet.

365 [interrupted]

So, it's been a couple of days since I've posted. Probably because it's been a couple of days since I've taken photos. I guess you can say I've been in a bit of a funk, a photo funk. Yesterday afternoon I had a couple of hours without Braden -thanks Grandma!- so I decided to take a drive to a park that I had been wanting to scope out for "spots" and see what I could find. I had pulled out of the driveway and was a couple of miles from the house when I realized that I had forgotten to grab my battery that had been charging. I have two other batteries, one was dead and the other one had been really low the last couple of times I had used it [of course!]. I was so annoyed but decided I didn't feel like turning around and would just keep driving.
I got to the park and was pretty much feeling like I had wasted my time, afterall I'd probably be able to take one photo before my camera died and I had little man [Carter] with me so it wasn't like I could just park and walk- it was freezing. I drove around the park a couple of times, pulled over a couple of times and finally felt/saw a bit of inspiration. My first couple of shots were totally not great but I just decided to pull over and really look. It was amazing what I saw when I changed my attitude! I didn't get any amazing shots and my camera died when I finally got into a little bit of a groove but I felt a bit refreshed AND I even got to get shots with my zoom lens that I rarely ever use. So i'd like to say that i'll be back up with my 365 tomorrow or better yet that I started back up today but I'm just not sure.
