Wish List.

We are getting ready to move next week. And although our stuff has been in storage for over a year and it's probably going to feel like Christmas when we get it- i've been browsing online and found some stuff that would surely look nice :)

I thought this cork board would look great in my kitchen. Keep my important info and calendar handy, organized, and cute.

I tend to be a bit reserved and practical when it comes to purchases but I really liked this EAT sign. It was simple, a little different than just a framed piece, and I like the punch of color. Yum.

Our place isn't going to be huge and I liked these two desks because they were sleak and slim. They would have enough space for my laptop and some other things but wouldn't be bulky or take up too much space.

All of these items were found on the Pottery Barn website. Love that store. One day when I have oodles of money, i'll shop there all the time ;)

Birthday Party.

The day started out very early and very rough. Let's just say that both boys had pretty intense screaming fits and very short naps. Good thing the party didn't start until 5pm so I had plenty of time to get things together without having an anxiety attack. Everything turned out fine. The weather was awesome so we were able to hang out outside for the majority of the time- that's always great when you have little kids running around!

Once again Coccadotts did an awesome job with the cake.

The banner didn't turn out quite as planned but it worked :)

I had to wake him up from his short, much needed nap. He wasn't in the mood for pictures..

Sissy and Brent.

Steph, my friend since forever ago.

My gerber baby.

Cake EVERYWHERE and he enjoyed every second.

Haha, he's been sticking his tongue out all of the time.

I was trying to organize toys & art stuff this morning and came across a notebook full of Braden's drawings and artsy stuff. I was struggling with the thought of whether or not I should keep the notebook or toss it. My first instinct is to toss it because afterall he has dozens of notebooks lying around, I have kept several different things that he's made/drawn/painted stored away in a cute little art box we made together, and he'll have many more to come in his life and will I really keep all of them for momentos?? But then my sappy thoughts come flooding through- he's getting so big, it's one of the first notebooks he had full of drawings (this was one of the things that he got as a gift when baby brother Carter was born), he'll want to see it one day, i'll want to see it again one day... So the solution that I came up with was to take a couple of pictures of different pages from the book. I could keep the memory without clutter. I thought it was a happy medium :)

Banner.

A couple of weeks ago I was reading one of my favorite blogs by Karen Russell and came across this awesome banner that she made for her little girls birthday. And then I was reading another one of my fave blogs, Momtogs, and Drew had a similar banner for her little boys birthday party. I instantly knew that I wanted to attempt to make on for Carter's birthday party (you can see pictures of their banners here and here).
I started it last night and it's not quite finished but it doesn't look too bad! I was half anticipating a disaster and it's not by any means the most beautiful thing you'll ever see but it was made with love and alot of great intentions ;) Anyway, here's a sneak peak.

The Mysterious Rash.

So the weather's been great. After being cooped up in the house for the entire winter with two kids, I could not be happier that the weather is finally getting nice and warm. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but keeping them entertained all day long while being in doors is not easy (if you can do this successfully, i'm totally open to ideas!). Besides, my boys are both active and Braden loves being outside doing all that boy stuff and playing sports :) Anyway, we spent the entire day outside yesterday. After Braden woke up from his nap I noticed that his face was red and that his eye area was a little swollen. I figured that maybe he got bitten by something or that he was having some sort of allergy type of reaction.. Well he woke up and the redness was more of a rash, he was itching all over, and his eyes were still swollen. After a couple of hours and seeing the "rash" spread down his neck I decided to get it checked out- better safe than sorry right? Well, it's a good thing I went...apparently the "rash" is scarlet fever (without the fever) and is a side effect of Strep Throat. Really? Yep, my poor little guy has a high pain tolerance. He never once complained about his throat and didn't have any other symptoms that would have led me to believe that he was sick. I thought it was weird but I was glad that I took him in. Did I mention how sad I am that he's getting to be such a big boy?? I am. Sad. He's so sweet.

You can't really see the rash but you can see a little bit of the swollenness around his eyes.

Birthday Cupcake.

We are having a birthday party for Carter on Saturday but we had birthday lunch for Carter and my dad and sang happy birthday (and couldn't celebrate or have cake without stopping in at Coccadotts Cake Shop). He loved every moment of his cupcake.
What a wonderful day. And the weather, beautiful. I am blessed.
Happy Birthday Carter!
and
Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy 1st Birthday Carter!

It was about 11pm on the night of March 16th, I was already in bed and half asleep, when... my water broke! I wanted you to come so badly, I was SO ready, but still quite surprised. You weren't due until the 30th but you came early, just like your brother. I quickly woke daddy up and within a short amount of time we were off to the hospital. I was expecting a long wait, since I hadn't been having any contractions and had to be induced for Braden. I had no idea what was coming my way!!
I went from no contractions to really serious and quite painful contractions. I went from a sit back, try to get some sleep to its time to push in just a matter of hours.

You were born at 4:49am on March 17, 2009 (You share a birthday with your Papa).

I cannot believe that it has been a year. You have brought so much joy to our lives. We all love you so much. You are the sweetest little thing. You have a funny (sometimes stuborn) little personality. You give shy little glances and big, cute smiles. You melt my heart. Your big brother, Braden, adores you. And you love him, you smile and squeal when he comes into the room first thing in the morning. He makes you laugh so hard. It took you 10 months to sleep through the night, but you crawled and walked quite early! Actually, it's your first birthday and you are a pro at walking :)

I love you so much!

Happy 1st Birthday Cartie.

Spring is in the air.

The weather was awesome today. Totally makes me anxious for spring to finally come. I'm tired of being cooped up in the house and coming up with creative ways to keep us sane and from watching too much tv! After convincing Braden that it wasn't too cold and that the wind (it was actually just a slight breeze) wasn't going to blow Cartie (what Braden calls Carter) and his stroller away...we had alot of fun blowing bubbles and kicking around a ball. It was Carter's first time walking around in the backyard and he totally loved it. And of course, the day would not have been complete without Carter putting something in his mouth so, he ate his first leaf. I was trying to help Braden with the bubbles and in an instant leaf was in the mouth, he wasn't phased at all. Sigh.

He's gotten so good at blowing bubbles! Carter absolutely loved it.
Love this boy. Just want to eat him.

Weekend.

This weekend we headed down to NYC to visit with grandpa. The trip is hard for the kids because there's alot of driving and sitting and we all know that that can be hard for adults so you can only imagine what it's like to be three. But the kids did awesome and we stayed overnight so we did a couple of fun things for them too. There's no other place like NYC and definitely no other place like Times Square. In a matter of two blocks we had seen a moving Statue of Liberty, Spider Man, a group of people giving out free hugs, about a million people and a full band performing on the corner.
I am so thankful that we are just a couple of hours away from Grandpa now and that we'll have the opportunity to see him more often. Especially because I want my boys to remember him. He looked great and still plays a mean game of dominoes!

Braden was thoroughly enjoying this cupcake. We brought a dozen for Grandpa from our favorite bakery here in Albany, Coccadotts.

Cart man wanted to play dominoes too!

Braden's first NYC hotdog. From the look on his face you can't tell that he was enjoying it.

Braden and I rode the ferris wheel at the Times Squre Toysrus- we were in the Toy Story car. It was alot of fun after I finally convinced Braden to ride it.

Today, I'm still trying to recover and hoping the boys schedule will be back on track tomorrow!
